How To Make a Flavored Lip Balm

Written By Elyse Aufmann 18 Sep 2020

Want to bring your favorite lip balm to the next level? Follow these steps on how to make a flavored lip balm to knock your overpriced one out of the park!

How To Make a Flavored Lip Balm

Wishing your favorite lip balm weren’t so expensive? We here at One on One Flavors (Get Suckered) are excited to tell you that we have an even better option than buying that expensive lip balm. If you have some free time and some of our flavors, you have everything that you need to make your own favorite lip balm! Continue reading below for step-by-step instructions on how to make a flavored lip balm.

Create Your Base – What’s in It?

The base only contains two main ingredients—beeswax and coconut oil. Beeswax is what solidifies and hardens the mixture, so depending on how soft you want it to be, that will determine the amount of coconut oil you add to the mixture. Typically, for every one-part beeswax you use, pair it with two parts coconut oil.

Remember that coconut oil does have its own scent, so the more you put in your base, the more you are going to smell it!

Heat It Up

Make sure to not overheat the beeswax. You should never allow the wax to get to a boil or let it bubble. When the beeswax melts completely into a liquid, that is when you mix it with the coconut oil. These two materials, when combined, should not harden right away but blend nicely. Over time, this mixture will harden. If, for whatever reason, your mixture begins to harden right away, all you must do is warm it up again. This sometimes happens to the mixture if the beeswax was not soft enough to begin with.

Add Your Flavor

Pick your favorite food flavoring extract from our online web collection to create the perfect flavor lip balm. Once you have your flavor, add it to the mixture. Think about how many different lip balm flavors there are out there!

Your options on flavors are endless. Feel free to add any other additional ingredients to make a unique flavor for a lip balm that’s all yours!

Let It Solidify

First, pour the mixture into whatever container you are going to want it in. Then just as stated above, the mixture over time will begin to harden. Just for reference, if you use the two-to-one ratio of coconut oil to beeswax, it should take a little under ten minutes to completely harden.

And just like that, you are finished!

When you are looking at yourself in the mirror, enjoying how fabulous and tasty this lip balm you created is, you will be thanking us here at Get Suckered for the tip! And if you enjoy it that much, make sure to order more flavors so you can have a variety of lip balms at your disposal and follow the steps for how to make flavored lip balm all over again.
