Turn Powders Into Liquid Luxury.

Getting powder pigments to behave in a liquid formula is one of the most frustrating parts of DIY cosmetic formulation. Clumping, uneven color, pigments that sink to the bottom of the bottle. LiquidVelvet300 was built to solve all of that.

This guide covers everything you need to get the most out of it, from basic pigment dispersion to full formulas you can start making today.

What Is LiquidVelvet300?

LiquidVelvet300 is a premium cosmetic creator oil built for pigment dispersion, gloss enhancement, and multi-purpose beauty formulation. It's lightweight, silky, and designed to make your pigments behave in any formula.

It's not a basic carrier oil. It's a performance ingredient made for creators who want their products to look and feel professional.

Why Pigment Dispersion Matters

Powder pigments, micas, and oxides don't naturally blend into liquid formulas on their own. Without the right dispersing medium, you get clumping, color separation, and batches that look different every time.

LiquidVelvet300 wets each pigment particle and suspends it evenly throughout your formula so your color stays smooth, vibrant, and consistent from the first batch to the hundredth.

What You Can Make With It

  • Liquid pigment dispersions and custom liquid colors
  • Lip oils and lip glosses
  • Shimmer body oils and body glow oils
  • Hair shine serums and gloss treatments
  • Liquid highlighters and liquid eyeshadows
  • Color cosmetics, creams, and balms

Suggested Usage Rates

These are suggested starting points. Every formula is different, so always start conservative and adjust as you go. You can always add more. You can't take it away once it's in.

Application Suggested Starting Rate Notes
Pigment dispersion 50-80% Start at 50%, add more for a thinner dispersion
Lip gloss base 10-30% Start low, build to your preferred texture
Lip oil 5-20% Start at 5%, adjust for feel
Shimmer body oil 10-40% Start at 10%, add more for more slip and shine
Liquid highlighter 20-50% Higher end for a more fluid formula
Hair gloss serum 5-15% Start conservative, hair formulas are sensitive

Suggested Ratios and Formulas

These are suggested ratio-based starting points, not fixed recipes. Scale to whatever batch size works for you. Start with less than you think you need. You can always add more.

Step 1: Make Your Liquid Pigment Dispersion

Start here every time. This is the foundation for everything else in this guide. Once you have it, you can drop it into almost any formula.

  1. Weigh out your cosmetic colorant into a clean container.
  2. Add LiquidVelvet300 a little at a time, starting at a 1:1 ratio by weight.
  3. Mix thoroughly after each addition until you get a smooth, lump-free liquid.
  4. If the dispersion is too thick, add a little more LiquidVelvet300 and mix again. Keep going until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Transfer to a dropper bottle and label it. Now you have ready-to-use liquid color for any formula.

Step 2: Use It In Something

Your liquid dispersion already has LiquidVelvet300 in it. The formulas below just use that dispersion as an ingredient — no need to add more LV300 separately.

DIY Body Shimmer Lotion

A great way to see how LiquidVelvet300 performs outside of lip products. Adding your dispersion to a lotion base gives the finished product a silky, non-greasy feel with smooth, even shimmer throughout.

Suggested starting ratios:

  • 90-95% unscented lotion or body cream base
  • 5-10% pre-made liquid pigment dispersion (start at 5% and add more for more shimmer and color)

Stir your liquid dispersion into the lotion base gradually until you reach the color and shimmer intensity you want. Bottle and label.

Shimmer Body Oil

Simpler than the lotion and great for a lightweight, high-shine finish.

Suggested starting ratios:

  • 90-95% lightweight carrier oil (fractionated coconut, jojoba, or your favorite)
  • 5-10% pre-made liquid pigment dispersion (start at 5% and build from there)

Mix well and bottle in a pump or dropper. Because your dispersion was made with LiquidVelvet300, the shimmer stays suspended better than it would with a plain powder pigment added directly to the oil.

Formulation Tips

  • Always pre-disperse your colorants before adding them to a finished base. It gives you more control over color intensity and prevents clumping in your final product.
  • Add ingredients gradually. You can always add more. You can't take it away once it's mixed in.
  • For lip gloss, add your liquid dispersion to a Versagel base for a thick, high-shine gloss with great color distribution.
  • Denser colorants need a little more mixing time. Keep mixing until the dispersion is fully smooth with no dry pockets.
  • Store your finished dispersions in dark or opaque bottles to keep your colors looking their best over time.
